Macaubas Fantasy
紫气东来
Macaubas Fantasy is a natural quartzite from Brazil with a gray or silver-gray background and pronounced movement. Its surface combines cool blue and green veining with warmer gold and rust tones, alongside crystalline inclusions that give the stone a layered character.
Long, thin veins and swirling colour shifts cross the slab, so the pattern can feel cloudlike in one area and strongly directional in another. The material is natural, and slabs vary in tone, vein density and colour balance; a full slab can read differently from a small sample.
Fantasy Macaubas is the reversed trade form of the name.
Appearance & Characteristics
The background reads as light gray to silver-gray, with enough tonal shift to give the stone a cloudlike depth. Veining ranges through blue, green, teal, gold, rust and terracotta, with occasional pink or purple hints and white crystalline inclusions. Some slabs show long, thin veins travelling across the face; others place more emphasis on swirling colour movement. The pattern is not uniform, and the balance between cool blue-green passages and warmer gold-rust areas changes from slab to slab. Colour and movement can read differently in person than in a small sample, so the full surface matters.
Applications & Selection
Macaubas Fantasy is used for kitchen and bathroom surfaces, countertops and feature walls. Its movement makes it a focal material in interior design projects, and it is worked as slab surfaces for counters and wall applications. The stone also appears in bathroom settings and kitchen projects where a natural-stone surface is part of the scheme. These uses place Macaubas Fantasy within kitchen, bath and feature-wall interiors.
Compare the actual slab or lot rather than a small swatch, because background tone, vein density and colour movement vary from slab to slab. Review the intended finish at sample stage; both honed and polished surfaces are part of the stone's trade presentation, and each changes how the pattern reads. Check the surface dry and wet, and confirm any resin backing and sealing practice with the fabricator before specification. If a project needs a particular colour direction, such as blue-dominant or warmer rust-dominant, resolve it through slab selection rather than a generic name.
Origin & Trade Names
Macaubas Fantasy is a Brazilian quartzite. The name pairs 'Fantasy', referring to the stone's dramatic colour movement, with 'Macaubas', a reference to Brazil's Macaúbas quartzite district. Suppliers also use the reversed form Fantasy Macaubas, and the word quartzite is often appended as a trade category. Azul Macaubas is a separate quartzite from the Macaúbas district, not another name for this stone. Sky Gold is a different material.
